Singapore Flyer installs two new backup systems
Singapore, 22 January - The Singapore Flyer is on target to successfully install its new backup systems today, capping off weeks of implementation and stringent testing conducted by a specially commissioned team comprising of consultants, contractors and vendors working alongside internationally renowned technical service provider TÜV SÜD and a panel of international experts.

Response to questions raised during Parliament Sitting on 19 January, 2009
Questions for oral answer with regards to Singapore Flyer wheel stoppage were raised by Dr Fatimah Lateef and Mdm Cynthia Phua during the parliament sitting on Monday, 19 January 2009 at 1:30pm.
Dr Fatimah Lateef: To ask the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Home Affairs in view of the recent malfunction of the Singapore Flyer (a) which agency/department provided safety clearance for the Singapore Flyer to commence service in February 2008; (b) what was the time lag for activation of the rescue department, SCDF and the police; (c) whether there was any communications delay; and (d) what will be the course of action taken to ensure future safety.
Mdm Cynthia Phua: To ask the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Home Affairs (a) what safety processes and requirements did the Singapore Flyer operator have to comply with before they were granted a licence to operate; (b) why a manual cranking installation is not required to be installed at the Flyer; and (c) at what point in any incident is the operator required to call in the Singapore Civil Defence Force.

Singapore Flyer implements two new independent backup systems
9th January 2009 - After working extensively with an international team of experts for the past fortnight, the Singapore Flyer has developed two new independent backup systems in an active effort to make the wheel the safest giant observation wheel in the world.
