New Journey of Dreams attraction at Singapore Flyer

(Singapore, 31 March 2011) – A brand new journey awaits all at the Singapore Flyer.

Go back to the days where Singapore was a mere fishing village and see Singapore flourish before your eyes into the beautiful garden city that it is today. Revisit the times where Singapore Flyer was a vision to how it evolved into an architectural wonder of the world.

It goes to show that dreams can come true.

Welcome on board the Journey of Dreams, the latest attraction and a whole new flight experience at Singapore Flyer – the world’s largest Giant Observation Wheel.

Journey of Dreams, the latest attraction under the Flyer’s $10 million Master plan follows the successful launch of The Singapore Food Trail, a 1960s-themed food street which opened last month to rave reviews and packed crowds.

This interactive gallery will enhance guest experience as it gives a better understanding and appreciation of the Singapore Story and the iconic Singapore Flyer. It presents an immersive experience through the use of interactive multimedia and intimate storytelling format told through the lens of Singapore Flyer. The Story accumulates with each gallery and culminates in the climatic realisation of the actual view. The gallery is not meant to be a singular, linear narrative, but rather designed to be an experiential approach.

So guests can now enjoy this wonderful, interactive experience at the 165-metre observation wheel with their Singapore Flyer flight tickets. In short, guests will get a Double-Double value deal – two attractions for the price of one and have their flight experience extended from 30 minutes to beyond an hour.

Said Ms Patsy Ong, the Chief Executive Officer of Singapore Flyer: “We are all very excited with this latest attraction from our $10-millon Master plan. Following the successful launch of The Singapore Food Trail last month, Journey of Dreams presents an immersive experience through the use of interactive multimedia and intimate storytelling to further connect with our guests, presenting a new dimension of an educational element. This will significantly increase the customer value proposition and characterize a whole new experience at the Singapore Flyer. It is our very answer to our questions on how we can further establish ourselves as the must visit destination for both locals and overseas visitors.”

There are seven new enticing and exciting experiences everyone can look forward to at the Journey of Dreams. This attraction aims to create the emotional resonance with Singapore Flyer and how the success story of Singapore’s transformation is the very foundation that sets the possibility of its engineering and architectural breakthrough.

Witness the realization of a Singapore’s dream at this newest attraction. Walking through The Prelude, where one will be greeted by a Flyer character in a backroom setting of revolving gear mechanisms suggesting the inner workings of the Flyer. The animated Flyer character runs inside a real 3D rotating gear to create an illusion, welcoming guests in multiple languages. At The Dreamscape, guests will be enthralled by the set up of a concaved panoramic screen displaying a myriad of images projected onto geometric cut-outs. They transform into psychedelic patterns which revolve and rotate, forming a sequence of circular shapes that depict the circular nature of the Giant Observation Wheel. Guests will learn how the Flyer was put together at The Discovery. The main feature here is a 1.5-metre diameter time machine for guests to turn like a dial to see a stream of images that tell the Singapore Flyer pre- and post-construction story. Using augmented reality technology, guests will find out more about Singapore Flyer’s optimal structural design, its stability, its superior cabin system and the difference between a ferris wheel and a Giant Observation Wheel.

After learning how Singapore Flyer dream was realized, guests move on to the Fragment of Dreams, to experience the Singapore Story. Here, guests are urged to explore Singapore’s culture and architecture, which can be highlighted by simply shining a torch onto a portrait of old Singapore. The highlighted areas show informative sneak-peeks of Singapore following three key themes: Futuristic, Cosmopolitan and Global City, Garden City and Multi-racial and Cultural City.

Reflect on the nation’s history and heritage through the peep holes at the Dream Journal and witness the dreams and aspirations of Singaporeans that have come true in Dream Reflections. These very walls tell the compelling story of the dreams and aspirations that lie at the very heart of Singapore Flyer, showcasing the essence of our tagline, A Moving Experience At Every Turn. The Reservoir of Dreams is a summation of the experience that guests have seen, discovered and remembered – all captured in 3 objects. Firstly, Oneroi’s Orb is a tactile display using a myriad of circular artefacts from the past and present to represent the Flyer’s spherical shape. Secondly, The Planet is the first inflated PufferSphere using internal projection to project the transformation of a dream into the icons that are Singapore and Singapore Flyer. Thirdly, The Numeric is a fun way to chew on the facts and figures on the physics and physique of Singapore Flyer.

And finally, come on board Singapore Flyer and see for yourself 165 metres above, a panoramic treat of our forefathers’ dreams turning into reality.

Your Journey of Dreams has only just begun, as you let your dreams take flight while you enjoy a moving experience at every turn.
