Singapore Flyer Brings the World To You
(Singapore, April 28 2011) – Your journey around the world this June holiday begins at Singapore Flyer. Kids and their families can look forward to an exciting line-up of fun and educational activities, as well as, photo opportunities with many landmarks of the world!
Imagine visiting one of the most romantic landmarks in the world with your family as you take in sights of the Eiffel Tower and learn that the Statue of Liberty in New York was a gift from the people of France to America. For the arts-lovers, expose your children to arts as you journey to Australia’s performing arts icon, the Sydney Opera House. Or admire the grandeur, the architectural beauty and the rich history of India’s Taj Mahal and Egypt’s Pyramid and Sphinx. And then complete your journey on board Singapore’s very own icon, the Singapore Flyer, as you learn of the Singapore Story and the world’s largest Giant Observation Wheel.
You don’t have to buy an air ticket to enjoy these world famous sites.
This June holiday, icons from all over the world will come together at Singapore Flyer! The event – Icons of the World at Singapore Flyer – will feature supersized 3D iconic landmarks from the five continents. Measuring about 4m each, these outdoor displays made by renowned Japanese artist Akira Takahashi – who has received four Guinness World Records (refer to Annex), will be located around the Flyer’s premises.
Other than seeing for yourself the replicas of iconic landmarks of each continent, it is a learning journey as guests get to learn about fun facts of the structures and be exposed to various activities and performances unique to each continent.
Kick starting the month-long worth of full-filled activities, will be the Japanese Tenko Drums performance and Filipino bamboo dances representing Asia. For the second week, put that artistic flair of yours to some works, as you try your hand at painting Leonardo Da Vinci’s – Mona Lisa, or listen to inspiring hand bell performances from the Europe continent. In Week 3, boogie to the beats of African themed dances and percussion performances after you get your hair beaded. Next, head to Oceania and make your own boomerang while learning about the culture and heritage of the Maori people through the traditional war dance the Kapa Haka. Finally, complete the journey around the world with America- themed workshop such as Hawaiian Lei and paper cowboy hat making, and pick up some nifty footwork from Brazilian Capoeira and Mexican folk dance.

Double deal for families at Singapore Flyer
Journey of Dreams by Singapore Flyer Interactive Gallery, the latest attraction under the Flyer’s $10 million Master plan follows the recent successful launch of The Singapore Food Trail, a 1960s-themed food street which opened to rave reviews and packed crowds.
This interactive gallery will enhance guest experience as it gives a better understanding and appreciation of the Singapore Story and the iconic Singapore Flyer. It presents an immersive experience through the use of interactive multimedia and intimate storytelling format told through the lens of Singapore Flyer. The Story accumulates with each gallery and culminates in the climatic realisation of the actual view onboard Flyer’s scenic flights.
This June holiday, guests can now enjoy this wonderful, interactive and learning experience at the 165-metre Giant Observation Wheel with their Singapore Flyer flight tickets. In short, guests will get a Double-Double value deal – two attractions for the price of one and have their flight experience extended from 30 minutes to beyond an hour.
And if you’re lucky, Singapore Flyer’s character will be ready to meet-and-greet with you and your family!

About the Artist – Akira Takahashi
Akira Takahashi, a world class floral expert, who created the world’s largest floral arrangement in Singapore and received a world record certification in the Guinness Book of Record. In 2001, he made use of ultra-violet light in a Japanese flower arrangement, as he attempted to build the world’s largest floating lantern at the Singapore River. Akira has received four Guinness World Records and 10 records in Singapore Book of Record.
